Michelle A.
Michelle is a PhD candidate in Education at Ontario Institute for Studies in Education, University of Toronto, and holds her Masters of Education from OISE. She also holds her Montessori Teacher Certificate and her Bachelor of Arts (Honours ) in English Literature.
Michelle’s specialties include: reading, writing and speaking / conversation (English) at all levels. She is an early literacy intervention specialist.
She currently works in early literacy in schools, as well as through online programs with CLIC Montreal. She worked as a teacher for over twelve years and directed a Montessori school. She has extensive experience with phonics instruction and reading strategies as well as with Montessori language instructional methods.
At Chapter One, Michelle worked as an Early Literacy Interventionist, instructing a one-to-one phonemic awareness program for indigenous children. At Studiosity, International, Michelle worked as a Writing Feedback Specialist. She also worked as a Coordinator/Content Editor/ Writer for Awakening Project, where she coordinated and taught social justice issues online.
She was an Educator and program developer for Newcomers Homecare group, where she developed and taught English as a Second Language for newcomers/ESL students seeking employment in Canada. She also owned and directed Cosmic Child Montessori +Arts, where she ran three programs for kids.
Michelle loves the opportunity to engage with many diverse populations in private classes, and enjoys working with students of all ages. Her speciality is encouraging a love of and appreciation for reading and writing.
