Our Approach

Our Educational Philosophy

Tutoring should fill a gap: the gap created when either an approach or particular material is not working for a student in school. Tutoring should never be used as a crutch. It should encourage individual thinking and always set students up to thrive as individual learners.

Understanding a student’s learning style is essential for creating successful, lifelong learners. We meet them where they’re at, while injecting confidence and preparing them for the unpleasant tasks or subjects that they’ll inevitably have to navigate.

There are four main learning styles. After identifying a student’s learning profile, a tutor can then decide on how to shape their learning plan.

Learning Styles

Kinesthetic

A kinesthetic or tactile learner needs to touch and feel material - think pennies for counting.

Auditory

An auditory learner will need to talk out the material in order to understand it.

Visual

A visual learner will learn best with maps, graphs, Venn diagrams, etc.

Reading / Writing

A reading / writing learner will take notes by hand or type them up to reinforce the concepts.

How we Work

We call you to find out more about the student’s learning style including past challenges/strengths.

  1. We take a look at our roster of tutors and send you some tutor bios (we encourage you to review these together with the student).

  2. Once chosen, we introduce you to your tutor to discuss tutoring goals and see if it’s the right fit.

  3. Once registration is complete, you can set up your first session.

  4. We check in regularly for feedback.

Our tutors come prepared with supplemental curriculum material. In addition, we put together courses from scratch.

Our tutors have access to the very best resources - as do the parents and students. We come prepared both with curriculum knowledge and the material needed. We always update our library with the latest in educational resources.

Our subscriptions include IXL and Twinkl.
