Maya I.
Maya graduated from Ecole Secondaire Felix-Leclerc and holds her DEC from John Abbott College in Social Sciences. She earned her Bachelors from Concordia University in Human Relations, Family Science and Youth.
Her specialties include: French (both to mother tongue and second language learners), English, math and all other subjects at the Elementary level.
Maya currently works as a Special Education technician at Westmount Park Elementary from grades 1 through 6. She also teaches in a regular classroom, traveling to students’ houses to help with homework and language acquisition and fluency.
Maya worked at Miriam Foundation as a Junior Behavioral Therapist, where she implemented learning strategies based on the specific model of the ESDM (Early Start Denver Model) program, according to each child's plan. At Amcal Family Services, she organized psycho-educational therapy groups and activities with teens while participating in family meetings, parent groups, and team meetings.
She has tutored privately for years and believes in inclusivity, individualized learning and using creativity to engage even the most reluctant learners.
