Barbara M.
Barbara holds both her Masters in Education, Department of Educational Psychology, (specialization in Inclusive Education), and her BA from McGill University. She also holds her Certificate in Executive Function Skill Development.
Barbara’s specialties include: executive functioning coaching with an emphasis on creating independent learners. She helps students of all ages work on study skills, procrastination issues, problem solving, homework help, calendar management, note taking, and task management. She also tutors students in literacy-building skills and overall homework help.
For many years, Barbara worked as the High School Resource Room Coordinator at Hebrew Academy, where she supervised the entire school’s in-school tutoring program. During her time there, she wrote and implemented IEPs, updated teachers and offered them practical strategies to meet the individualized learning needs of their students.
At Akiva, she worked as the remediation specialist, offering skill-building help for all subjects including literacy.
At UTT, Barbara worked as the Special Ed teacher, where she taught in a multi-level classroom for students experiencing learning obstacles, and provided lessons to improve basic academic knowledge of each student.
Over the years, Barbara’s tremendous enthusiasm and ability to connect with students of all ages has taught students how to advocate for themselves and has allowed her to create and implement academic and overall life lessons for students in all subjects.
