Alice Z.

Alice holds her Bachelor of Science in Honours Psychology from McGill University where she was on the Dean’s Honour List annually. She received the Dow-Hickson Scholarship in English Literature, Philosophy, and Psychology.

Alice’s specialties include: math and science (in both English and French) for high school and CEGEP, French as a second language, English, and psychology.

She has peer tutored Introductory Behavioral Neuroscience and math (Advanced Functions, Pre-Calculus & Calculus), for which she personalized and adapted lessons to meet each learner’s profile.

At Ometz, Alice worked at the Learning Enrichment Program, where she supported students with academic challenges with their homework and test prep, using creative strategies. She led many sessions for French language learners, and helped students develop appropriate emotional regulation skills. She also led multiple educational activities for groups of kids and teens, ranging in topic from study skills to mental health.

At the Cultural Developmental Science Lab, she led weekly literature reviews and discussions about the well-being, resilience, and resistance of youth of color. She also worked as a lab coordinator at McGill, where she participated in research and workshops about ethnic-racial well being and presented them to summer camps and youth organizations.

Alice is also the recipient of the Tomlinson Engagement Award for Mentoring for Introductory Behavioral Neuroscience, Child Development, and Human Cognition and the Brain. At the McGill Psychology Students’ Association Peer Mentorship Program, she mentored students regarding course selection, course material, and career development.

Alice believes in challenging students of all ages to reach their maximum potential through both kindness and work.
